1. Who runs this site

Mountain Thirteen Media (M13) is a one-person design and web studio. It's run by Lyndon Kaleb, based in Alberta, Canada. There is no team, no parent company, and no shared admin login — just me.

2. What information I collect

Information you give me

When you contact Mountain Thirteen — through the form on this site, by email, or during a project — I collect what you send me. That usually includes:

Your name and email address
Your business name, role, or website (if you share it)
The content of your message and any project brief, files, or references you attach
Notes I take during our conversations so I can do the work properly

If you become a client, I also collect billing details through Stripe. I don't store your full card number — Stripe handles that, and I see only the last four digits and the cardholder name on receipts.

Information collected automatically

The site uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool based in the EU. Plausible doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you across sites, and doesn't collect personal data. I use it to see which pages get visited and where traffic comes from at an aggregate level.

The web host (Hostinger) and CDN (Cloudflare) keep standard server logs — IP address, browser type, timestamps, and the page requested. These are used for security and uptime, not marketing. I do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any cross-site behavioural tracking on this site.

3. How I use that information

I use the information you give me to:

Reply to your message
Quote, scope, and deliver project work
Send invoices and process payments
Send the M13 newsletter — but only if you opted in
Keep a record of past work so I can support you afterwards

I do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. I do not feed your project files or correspondence into AI training datasets. The only third parties that see your information are the service providers listed in section 6 — and only the parts they need to do their job.

4. Cookies and tracking

This site uses the bare minimum: a session cookie to keep forms working and a CSRF token to keep them secure. That's it. There are no advertising cookies, no remarketing pixels, and no behavioural tracking scripts.

If the newsletter platform inserts a tracking pixel into outbound emails (most do, by default), I'll disclose it in the email footer and you can disable image loading in your email client to opt out without unsubscribing.

5. Email and CASL compliance

Mountain Thirteen follows Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). In practical terms:

The newsletter is explicit opt-in only. Nobody is added to it without ticking a box or typing their email into a signup form themselves.
Replying to a project inquiry doesn't auto-subscribe you to anything. One-time business correspondence is permitted under CASL's existing-business-relationship rules and stays one-time.
Every newsletter email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. It actually works, and it takes effect immediately.
Every email I send for marketing purposes identifies me by name and includes a working physical and email contact.

6. Third-party services I use

Running a small studio means relying on a handful of trusted vendors. Here's the full list and what each one sees:

Stripe — payment processing. Sees your name, billing address, and card details when you pay an invoice. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant.
Hostinger — web hosting. Sees standard server-log data (IPs, request paths) for the Mountain Thirteen site.
Cloudflare — CDN and DNS. Sits in front of the site for performance and basic security. Sees request metadata.
BeeHiiv — newsletter platform. Stores subscriber email addresses and tracks opens and clicks for the Mountain Thirteen list (no other data).
Cal.com — booking tool. Stores your name, email, and the time you booked when you schedule an intro call.
Google Workspace — email and document storage for Mountain Thirteen's working files. Your correspondence and any files you send live here.
Plausible Analytics — privacy-friendly site analytics. Aggregate page-view counts, no cookies, no personal data.

Each of these has its own privacy policy. I review them periodically and will update this list if I switch providers.

7. Your rights

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta, Canada's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), you have the right to:

Access the personal information Mountain Thirteen holds about you
Correct anything that's inaccurate or incomplete
Delete your data, within the limits of legal record-keeping requirements (see retention)
Withdraw consent at any time, including unsubscribing from the newsletter
Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the BC Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner

To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. I'll confirm receipt within two business days and resolve the request within 30 days.

8. Data retention

Different kinds of information are kept for different lengths of time:

Project files — kept for 24 months after the engagement closes, in case you need source files re-sent. Then archived.
Email correspondence — kept indefinitely unless you ask for it to be deleted. I find old threads useful when clients return for a second project.
Payment and invoice records — kept for 7 years, as required by Canadian tax law.
Newsletter subscriber data — kept until you unsubscribe, then removed within 30 days.
Analytics data — Plausible retains aggregate data; no individual records exist to delete.

9. Children

Mountain Thirteen's services are sold to and used by businesses. The site is not directed at anyone under the age of 18. I do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information through the site, please email me and I'll delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, I'll update the "last updated" date at the top of the page and post a note here describing what changed. For material changes — anything that affects how your information is used — I'll send a notice by email to current clients and active newsletter subscribers.
